“But Julia, I’m not a brand…” I hear this A LOT.
You might know a little or a lot about what branding is, but understanding it’s part could be just what you need to launch a new venture, pivot your existing business, or grow your customer base.
But what exactly is branding? Should I invest in a new logo? What’s it going to get me? Here’s what you actually need to know – get the lowdown in the slides.
Here’s what you actually need to know:
What is branding anyway?
Branding will help you to create a distinct identity for your business, that’s for sure. It includes everything from your logo and colour scheme to your messaging and customer experience.
Your brand is what sets you apart from the competition and makes your business memorable to customers. But it’s more than just the look.
It’s also the emotional connection to you and your business. What is it that people keep you ‘front of mind’ for? Your brand style helps (hugely) with getting your business out-there, but how does it make them book that call, invest in your services, and (the best bit!) recommend you to others?
How can branding help you launch, pivot, or grow?
When it comes to making changes in your business, (most of my clients come to me because they are launching, pivoting or growing) branding can help you establish a clear identity and stand out, with confidence. It’ll also help to create a strong foundation for your business; considering your values, purpose, mission and vision.
So, if you’re in the super exciting “I’m ready to launch my new business” phase, branding is really necessary to establish a clear identity and stand out with confidence. By defining your brand values, messaging, and visual identity, you can create a strong foundation for your business.
If you’re pivoting your existing business, branding can help you communicate the changes to your customers and create a cohesive brand experience. By redefining your brand messaging and visual identity, you can ensure that your customers understand your new direction and feel confident in your business.
If you’re trying to grow your customer base, branding can help you build trust and loyalty with your audience. By consistently delivering a strong brand experience across all touch points, you can create a positive reputation and attract new customers.
But how do you create a strong brand?
Creating a strong brand involves several key steps, including:
- Consider your brand messaging: How will you use your brand values to appeal to your potential clients? What tone of voice and messaging will resonate with your community?
- Review your visual identity: What colours, fonts, and imagery will represent your brand visually? What do you need to do to get this consistent (with your message) across your channels?
- Creating a brand experience: What impression do you want to leave people with? Think of a few words that describe how you want people to feel. (This post might help). Now build this out into all you do; the services you offer, how you communicate etc.
- Are you measuring your success? Are you getting reviews and feedback? What are people asking you? Are your community engaged and interacting with your content?
