Are you hiding behind your business? How to stand out and consistently shine

You're a Brand Master

Go on, admit it.. Does it come more naturally to you to put your focus on your clients’ businesses rather than spend time on your own? (I’m guilty of it too btw)

However, spending time developing your business branding will make all aspects of your business marketing so much easier. Why? Well when you are the face and the heart of your business, you need to make sure you are consistently standing out and shining in order to grow and thrive.

But are you hiding? So many of my clients are. Brilliant women, full of ideas but feeling held back by their brands. If you aren’t ‘out-there’ what will happen? No-one will see you. Not your ideal clients. Not your followers.

Here are the main reasons I see why women are hiding behind their businesses:

  • They feel like they have to have everything perfect before they start
  • Life is ‘getting in the way’ e.g. it’s not yet a priority to work on your business
  • They’re not clear on who they’re targeting, who their ideal client is
  • They wonder who will be interested in what they have to say
  • Too many times they’ve put it off, so are now overwhelmed with where to start

Can you relate? There’s lots to unpick here to be honest. And I’m sure we can all raise our hands to feel some of these.

With the best intentions, we’d love to be getting our businesses out there, right? You can start by identifying what it is you think is holding you back. Naming it can put you on the right track to stepping out of your own shadow.

OK, so you’ve named that blocker. What’s next?

How can you step out from behind your business and consistently shine? Here are some tips:

Step One: Start with your Brand Foundations

The first step to standing out and shining is to define your personal brand. What makes you unique? What are your values and passions? What do you want to be known for? By answering these questions, you can develop a clear personal brand that will help you stand out from the competition.

Step Two: Develop a consistent brand message

Once you have defined your personal brand, it’s important to develop a consistent brand message. This means having a clear message that is reflected in all of your marketing materials, from your website to your social media posts. Your brand message should be consistent, clear, and memorable.

Step Three: Be Authentic

Authenticity is key when it comes to personal branding. People can spot a fake a mile away, so it’s important to be true to yourself and your values. This means being honest about your strengths and weaknesses, sharing your story, and showing your personality. When you are authentic, people will be drawn to you and your business.

Step Four: Get comfortable with showcasing your expertise

One way to stand out and shine is to showcase your expertise. This means sharing your knowledge and skills with your audience through blog posts, videos, and social media content. By sharing valuable information, you can establish yourself as an authority in your field and build trust with your audience.

Step Five: Show up. Step forward. Stand out.

Finally, in order to stand out and consistently shine, you need to be visible. This means showing up on social media, attending events, and networking with other business owners. This might sound daunting, you don’t have to do it all at once. Maybe you can work on visibility incrementally over time, building it into your brand strategy or goals.

The ultimate goal? Building a memorable brand that people remember. But what do you want them to remember, really? YOU. That might take some of the pressure off… (hopefully!) But what does that actually look, or feel like?

– You start creating content that people save and share
– Your community brings you up in conversation
– You start getting recommendations and referrals for your work and services
– You are front of mind with your ideal clients when they are ready!
